Northborough – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks football team defeated the Marlborough Panthers by a score of 43-19 in a game played Oct. 19.
Marlborough started the scoring early, as junior Edwin Cardona dashed 69 yards for a touchdown on the second play of the game, but Algonquin answered by racking up 30 consecutive points and taking control of the game.
Rio Ferguson scored three touchdowns for Algonquin, with Shane Stevens, Derek Blanchard and Pedro Ribeiro scoring a touchdown apiece. Quarterback Riley Greenwald threw one touchdown pass to Blanchard, and scored on three 2-point conversion attempts.
Stevie DiGregorio scored on a 50-yard pass from Jason Short, and Steve Breitenfeld rushed for a late touchdown to complete the scoring for Marlborough.
