Shrewsbury – A Country Western Night is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 16, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Scandinavian Athletic Club Park, 438 Lake St. in Shrewsbury. The event flyer proclaims, “Let’s boot cancer to the barn and get some much needed research done!”

The fundraiser is organized by Team Vikki, captained by four-time cancer survivor Vikki Crowley of Marlborough.

“I’ve been given umpteen chances and I think this is the reason,” Crowley said. “I’m fighting for that cure and to save as many lives as I can.”

Proceeds will support Team Vikki’s contributions to three cancer causes: the 2020 Marlborough/Hudson Relay of Life, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard.

The evening will feature country music with line dancing guided by Mary Dragon of Northborough. Dragon teaches line dancing at senior centers in Grafton, Hudson, Northborough and Westborough, as well as with Assabet After Dark, the continuing education program at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough.

Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. with snacks and raffles available. Admission is a $10 donation at the door.
