Northborough – Marile Borden and her 12 year-old-daughter, Lia, recently had the honor of introducing presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg at a fundraising event held in Boston.
Marile is a co-leader of a grassroots campaign effort in Massachusetts for the South Bend, Ind. mayor in his quest to become the 2020 democratic nominee.
Lia caught the attention of Buttigieg when she wrote a letter to him that noted the importance of women’s rights, especially when it comes to the disparities in salaries and earnings women make versus what men make for the same position. Buttigieg referenced Lia’s letter when he released the details of his proposed agenda for women should he be elected.
