Hudson – Linda Rose (Berg) Tinari passed away peacefully in her home in the loving care of her family, supported by the excellent team of Beacon Hopsice. She struggled with the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for many years, and was able to remain in her home and avoid hospitalizations, thanks to her family’s care, her dedicated physician Debra Ford MD, and her choice to receive hospice care.
Linda was born in Worcester, MA in 1947, to Barbara (Everett) and Robert Berg. She graduated from Burncoat High School in their first graduating class, 1966. She was married to Anthony “Buddy” Tinari of East Haven, CT, briefly, returning to Worcester to raise her daughter independently in 1972.
She graduated from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in 1982, and embarked on a career as an operating room nurse, working for many years at City Hospital, then Harrrington Hospital. She retired from St Vincent Hospital in 2009. In 2015, she moved to Hudson to live with her daughter Gina (Tinari) Boisse and Gina’s husband Jim Boisse.
Linda’s legacy is that of a caregiver. She was a dedicated daughter to her parents, Bob and Barbara, who predecased her in 1983 and 1987 respectively. She was a strong, capable single parent to Gina, who will always credit her with providing an unwavering example of hard work, commitment to famly, and keeping a sense of humor through any situation.
She was loud, and sassy, and deeply loving. She had a temper that was quick to flare and a heart that was quick to forgive. She loved animals, and was blessed with pets who had some serious longevity. She was an excellent cook, and a terrific host, and she loved to gather people together. As an only child, raising an only child, her love was not limited to her small biological family. She opened her heart and home to friends so frequently, and she curated an extended family, a patchwork quilt of folks who all love her dearly. She was her daughter Gina’s very best friend.
She will be very much missed by her family, her daughter Gina, her son-in-law Jim who she loved so much; close family friend John Devescovi who was one of her primary caregivers in the last months of her life; her childhood friends Jackie Morris of FL and Bobbi Vasilauskas of Norwell, MA; her close friends Lisa Villarreal of Simpsonville, SC, and Helen and Dick Duhamel, of Charlton, MA; her nephew Jeff Morris in N Dakota, and niece Jennifer Morris, a most beautiful person and a citizen of the world; treasured friends Scott and Kimber Donham of Bluffton, SC, Patty Walton of Holden MA, Ellen Walsh of West Boylston MA, and Michele Lisee of AZ.
Linda’s family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Beacon Hospice, with special love to her primary team: nurses Christina Deyo and Casey Capoccia, home health aide Lindsay Glasson, and social worker and life coach Stacy Zimov. The entire team at Beacon was truly a light shining in the dark, and there is no better group of people to have walked this journey with Linda and her family.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation from 4 pm until 7 pm on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA; immediately followed by a celebration of her life at 7 pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Linda’s honor can be made to the Bunky Walton fund, a Massachusetts charity which provides financial assistance to local pet owners who struggle with medical bills for their beloved companions.
