DA says man killed by police after stabbing his wife multiple times

Westborough Police Officer identified in Nov. 15 shootingWestborough – A Westborough police officer shot and killed a suspect on Friday after the man stabbed his wife multiple times, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early, Jr.

The man, who is not being identified at this time pending notification of family members, stabbed his wife inside their Windsor Ridge Drive apartment around midday Friday. The woman fled to a neighboring apartment where residents called 911. The man followed her to that apartment and continued to attack her.

Westborough Police responded to the ongoing incident. After issuing several commands to the man to drop the knife, Sgt. Jonathan Kalagher fired upon the suspect. The man was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The woman was also transported to the hospital. She survived the attack and is in stable condition at this time.

Sgt. Kalagher was also taken to the hospital according to department policy. He was not injured. Sgt. Kalagher has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with department policy.

State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office continue to investigate this incident.
