Marlborough – About 1,000 guests gathered Dec. 12 when the Evening of Giving fundraiser marked its 30th anniversary at Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough. Proceeds go to Roland’s House, formerly known as the Marlborough-Hudson Homeless Shelter.
According to a message printed in the event program, “This event contributes approximately 11 percent of the funding needed to provide this important community service. In the last fiscal year, the program provided safe shelter and support services for 104 homeless men.”
Once again, Bob Kays served as event chair with Ivette Mesmar coordinating the food from over 25 eateries. The classic oldies band Flashback and deejay Steve Woodard provided music. Marlborough Junior Woman’s Club members handled the coat check.
Guests were encouraged to bring toiletry items to be donated to Roland’s House in Marlborough and the Willis House, a family shelter in Hudson. Donation bins were also placed prior to the event at schools and senior centers in Marlborough and Hudson.
