Westborough – The Fisher Street Bridge over the Assabet River, which has been closed since Oct. 7, will now not reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 24, as had been hoped. The new date will be sometime in mid-January, according to the Westborough Department of Public Works. The delay is due to “unforeseen weather conditions and scheduling issues” according to a press release from the town.
The existing bridge is being removed and replaced with a new bridge. During construction the bridge will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians. A detour will be in place during this time.
