Marlborough – For more than a quarter century, the Business Technology students at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High have continued to coordinate the Aztec Wishes program.
SMOC, the South Middlesex Opportunity Council, provided names and wish lists of families having a hard time this year and students developed a database and organized gifts donated primarily by staff and students to help 75 little ones have a brighter holiday.
Every year a group of women hailing from several states (and Poland!) knit and crochet hand-made doll clothes and accessories to be added to the gifts, funneled through Chris Ledder of Marlborough. This year, Ledder’s mother, Frances Mellish from North Wales, Penn., found an additional unexpected bright spot in that the focus of her knitting helped her through a tough time with chemotherapy.
