Julio BenitezHudson – Julio Manuel Benitez, 82, of Hudson, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his beloved wife and companion of over 44 years, Maria T. Torres.

Julio was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico, on February 13, 1937, a son of the late Donicio Benitez and Juana Benitez Luyando. He was raised in Puerto Rico and moved to New York when he was 18 years old. He later moved to Paterson, New Jersey where he met the love of his life, Maria T. Torres, in 1975 and together they later settled in Marlborough and Hudson, where they have resided for the past 30 years. Julio had a long and productive career as a Machine Operator at Bay State Circuits, retiring after 34 years of dedicated hard work.

Julio was a devoted member of the Getsemani Iglesia Pentecostal in Framingham and his life was fully dedicated to serving God. He loved to be around and spend time with his family, who he cherished, especially his children and grandchildren. Julio also enjoyed fishing and watching the Boston Red Sox. Julio also loved spending time with his two pet birds, Sunshine and Verdoso. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his beloved wife, Maria T. Torres, he is also survived by his children, Julio Benitez Jr, Betsy Benitez, Mirna Mills and her husband Josian Diaz, Maria Rosado, Betsy Torres and her partner April Aponte; his brother, Donicio Benitez, Jr.; his sister, Lydia Benitez; his grandchildren, Jessy Rivera, Luis Rivera, Jeyris Agosto, Xavier Marquez, Christopher Marquez, Tania Rosado, Uziel Rosado and Ruben Rosado, Jr; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, especially, Carlos Torres and Damaris Torres, who were like one of his own children to him.  He was also predeceased by two sons, Richard Rosado and Ruben Rosado and two sisters, Maria Luisa Luyando and Mercedes Benitez.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours from 4 pm until 7 pm on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA 01749. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 10 am on Monday, December 30, 2019 in the funeral home, followed by a procession to Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson for interment.
