Southborough police announce arrest of suspect in recent break-insSouthborough – The Southborough Police Department released the following statement on the arrest of a suspect in a series of recent home break-ins:

On 12/31/19, at 2:29 p.m., Southborough Police Dispatch received a call from a Southville Road resident reporting a suspicious black vehicle that had pulled out of his driveway as he arrived home.  The alert homeowner was able to obtain the vehicle registration which came back to the same make and model of a suspect vehicle from a series of Southborough house breaks over the past two plus weeks.  Another resident was able to provide key information with help of a “Ring” doorbell monitoring system.

Southborough Officers were able to contact Marlborough P.D. who tracked the vehicle to its registered address. They placed the driver under arrest after a brief foot chase, and forcible entry into his apartment on Elm Street.  The suspect was identified as Richard A. Findley (age 30) of Marlborough.  He was transported back to Marlborough P.D. on several outstanding warrants.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. Findley is currently being charged with the following:  1.  B&E BUILDING DAYTIME FOR FELONY, 266/18/B.  2. LARCENY UNDER $1200, 266/30/C.  3. DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 266/127/A.

The case remains under investigation as Southborough Detectives continue to match evidence with other surrounding agencies.  Additional charges are anticipated.  Anyone having further information is encouraged to contact Lt. Ryan Newell or Detective Keith Nichols at (508) 485-2147.
