A long overdue thank you and plea for help to Westborough community

To the Editor:

The Friends of the Westborough Public Library wishes to thank any of the residents who have made generous donations of books over the years. The amount and variety of what is dropped off on a daily basis never cease to amaze. The Friends then organize and sell what comes our way and with the funds raised, we have been able to do much good for the Library and the community at large. This past year the Friends have purchased new chairs and tables for the children’s room, a large donation towards the foundation raising money to renovate the library, numerous museum passes, provided funding for dozens of adult and children programs and filled many a hungry belly at the culmination of teen programs to name just a few.

None of these things would be possible if it were not for the donations we receive in books to sell or – as vital – the free labor offered by our volunteers at all levels of the organization. There is so, even more, we could do with even more dedicated members of the community got involved. The Friends are looking for more members to play an active role at all levels of the organization. It is very likely that your special skill set and the level you would like to commit to helping out this worthy nonprofit all-volunteer organization can be found.

Please consider coming to the Annual Meeting to be held in the library meeting room on Tuesday, February 10th starting at 7 pm and see the many ways, both large and small, that you can get involved to help keep the Friends group going.

Sincerely,

Eric Waite

President of the Friends until February 2020
