Shrewsbury – When Ellen Dolan officially retires this April as director of the Shrewsbury Public Library, the current assistant library director Priya Rathnam, will be stepping into that role. The library’s Board of Directors chose Rathnam who began with the Shrewsbury Library in 2004, serving first as a volunteer, then as Children’s Librarian, Reference Librarian and for the past seven years as assistant library director.

As assistant director, Rathnam has helped propel the library into the future helping to secure funding and launching a number of progressive programs. These varied programs include the Entrepreneurs’ Networking group, the English Conversation Circle Program for adult English language learners, and the Memory Café program, which serves people with dementia and their care partners.
