Westborough – The long-dilapidated Burger King located at 139 Turnpike Rd. (Route 9) and the intersection of Lyman Street in Westborough has been razed and construction started on a 5,000-square-foot ConvenientMD urgent care medical center, Starbucks and new Burger King in its place.

Westborough Building Commissioner Fred Lonardo said he does not have a projected completion date for the project and hesitated to offer a timeline, as the project has dragged on for years. Permitting approval from the town was given in 2018, but development was delayed due to the recent reconstruction of the Route 9 and Lyman Street intersection. At this point in the process, Lonardo said he has seen proposed interior plans for Starbucks, but not ConvenientMD or Burger King.

ConvenientMD urgent care medical centers are currently located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine and offer medical services for illnesses, injuries and preventative care. They are open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Starbucks and Burger King will include indoor and outdoor seating and drive-through windows.

It is unclear if a current Starbucks, located almost directly across Route 9, will remain open when the new location is completed. A call to Starbucks corporate office was not returned.
