Six injured in early morning Route 9 crash in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Police Department released this statement this afternoon:

On Saturday, February 08, 2020 at 12:16 A.M. the Shrewsbury Police Department responded to a three car accident with injuries at the intersection of Boston Turnpike (Route 9) and Lake Street. Shrewsbury Fire Department, Umass Paramedics and Westboro paramedics also responded to the scene. Six individuals were transported from the scene to area hospitals for treatment for injuries.

The investigation has determined that a 2016 Honda Accord operated by Lucas Delatree, 19 years old of Northborough Ma was traveling Route 9 east bound in the Left travel lane at high rate of speed when it struck a 2009 Infiniti G37 operated by John Ledoux, 22 years old of Worcester, Ma that was pulling out of Lake Street turning onto Route 9 westbound. A third vehicle was struck by debris and received minor damage.

Route 9 Eastbound and Westbound was shut down for approximately four hours while Sergeant Cliff Luce of the Central Mass Law Enforcement Council Crash Team and Officer Brett Wester of the Shrewsbury Police Department investigated the scene. The Shrewsbury Police in conjunction with the Office of Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early continue to investigate the crash. No charges have been filed yet as the accident remains under investigation.
