Hudson – The Avidia Charitable Foundation recently donated $2000 to the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center (Kennedy Community Health) to fund the purchase of an additional Polycom device, a wireless and portable device used in providing linguistically competent care for patients.
Kennedy Community Health provides comprehensive health care to over 28,000 patients a year in Central and MetroWest Massachusetts. Seventy-six percent of Kennedy Community Health patients are best served in a language other than English. To meet the needs of this diverse patient population, Kennedy Community Health provides extensive interpretation services in the form of on-site interpreters, video interpretation, and telephonic interpretation. The Polycom is instrumental in providing these services efficiently and ensuring equitable access to health services for everyone in the community.
