Marlborough – The Highland City Striders Running Club raised $20,000 during their 2018 and 2019 Running with the Wolves 10k & White Fang 5k road races.  Of the race proceeds, $10,000 has been donated to the Marlborough Community Cupboard and $10,000 to the Hudson Food Pantry.

“Raising money for the food banks makes these races about so much more than just running,” said Sarah Day, Highland City Striders’ Race Director.  “It allows us to make a difference in our community while enjoying a sport that we love.”

The 10k and 5k races are held in July each year with an out-and-back course on the Assabet River Rail Trail in Marlborough and Hudson. The races typically draw about 500 runners and walkers who receive race shirts, commemorative wine glasses, backpacks and other race goodies.  Runners often dress in Red Riding Hood, Big Bad Wolf, and other festive costumes during this family-friendly event.  St. Mary’s Credit Union has been the Platinum Sponsor of both races since 2017.

The Highland City Striders Running Club is a nonprofit 501(C)3.  Since 2009, the Running with the Wolves 10K has raised over $70,000 for local charities. For more information visit www.highlandcitystriders.org.
