Northborough – It was a memorable Leap Day for the Algonquin Regional High School gymnastics team as they finished second in the Massachusetts State Gymnastics Championship, held Feb. 29 at ARHS.

Algonquin, who finished second with 145.325 points, was edged out by Masconomet who took home the championship trophy with a score of 148.625.  Bridgewater-Raynham/West Bridgewater took third with 144.625 points.  The top three finishers advance to the New England Regionals, which will be held on March 14.

Algonquin sophomore Elizabeth Debroczy took home the All Around title for the second year in a row, with a top score of 38.550, propelled by first places finishes in both the bars (9.700) and beam (9.775).  Mia Gorman also posted a strong performance for Algonquin, finishing sixth overall with 36.450 points.
