Marlborough – The Marlborough Public Library, 35 West Main St., is offering several free upcoming events for kids, teens and adults. 

 

Adult events

 

Adult Book Club – Monday, March 16, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. or Thursday, March 19 from 10:30 to noon.  March’s selection for discussion is “The Year of the Flood” by Margaret Atwood. Extra copies are available at the circulation desk. No registration is required.

 

Cookbook Club – Tuesday, March 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. In March, the club will be featuring the cookbooks of Carla Hall, former cohost of “The Chew” and a “Top Chef All-Stars” fan favorite. Attendees are being encouraged to read Carla’s stories and sample her recipes.” Those interested can sign up to make a recipe from one of her books. Copies of the current cookbooks are available at the circulation desk starting a month prior to each meeting. Registration is required. 

 

Forever Young Adult Book Club – For adults and teens who read YA books ,Wednesday, March 25, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The March book is “I’ll Give You the Sun” by Jandy Nelson. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk. No registration is required.

 

Science Book Club – Monday, March 30, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. No previous experience in the subject is necessary. Participants are invited to come learn something new or to share their expertise. The March book selection is “The Disappearing Spoon” by Sam Kean. Copies of the book are available at the circulation desk. No registration is required.

Children’s events

 

Mother Goose on the Loose with Miss Jennie – Tuesdays, March 10, 17 and 24, from 10 to 11 a.m. This event is an interactive story time featuring stories, songs, rhymes and movement, followed by playtime. No registration is required. 

 

Read to a Dog program – Wednesdays, March 11, 18 and 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kids are invited to come meet Dublin and choose a book that they would like to read to him. No registration is required. 

 

Craft-O-Rama Club – Wednesday, March 11, from 4 to 5 p.m. This club will meet the second Wednesday of every month. The March craft will be a hot air balloon multimedia painting. Registration is required.

 

Hooked on Books Book Club – Tuesday, March 31, from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. For March, the genre is science fiction, featuring the book, “Galaxy Zack, Book 1: Hello, Nebulon!” by Ray O’Ryan. Those attending are invited to read the selection and then join the club members for a book talk, snack and fun activity. Copies of this month’s selection are available at the Children’s Circulation Desk.  Registration is required.
