Marc ChavesMarlborough – Marc Joseph Chaves, 50, of Marlborough died Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester. He was the son of the late Joseph M. and Gayle M. (Guest) Chaves. He was also predeceased by his sister Brenda Chaves.

Having been diagnosed at an early age with a rare disease, with an unknown origin, that effected his neurological system and was physically progressive, Marc went on to be the first in his family to graduate from high school.

After graduating from Marlborough High School, he went on to work at Victory in Hudson, MA as a stock boy and grocery bagger, taking great pride in going to work every day no matter how he was feeling.

Marc was an extremely funny and intelligent man who loved the Bruins, Red Wings, Red Sox and Patriots and you can be assured that if there was a hockey game on tv, he would be watching it.

Marc is survived by his brother, Joseph Chaves and his wife Lyn, of Marlborough, his sister, Melissa Chaves of Marlborough, his uncle, Ron Guest of Marlborough, his step-mother, Joanne Chaves of Ashland and his lifelong friend Pam Holman. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Maggie.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 11 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough.
