Westborough Moderator to hold virtual office hours’ by email or phoneWestborough – Westborough’s Annual Town Meeting is currently scheduled to begin on Saturday, March 28 and all registered voters in Westborough can fully participate and vote. The Town Meeting is scheduled to begin at the High School starting at 1 p.m.

Due to the current public health risks associated with the coronavirus, the Board of Health is recommending that no events be held in the Meeting Room of the Public Library until further notice. Therefore, the Town Moderator Pre-Town Meeting Office Hours will be done differently this year. From now until the Town Meeting, I am asking that any voter has any questions about the upcoming Town Meeting or the Town Meeting process contact me by email – [email protected] – or by leaving a phone message for me at the Town Clerk’s office – 508-366-3020. I will try to answer by email or phone to answer your questions and help you prepare for the Annual Town Meeting.

The Annual Town Meeting votes on budgets for all Town departments, capital spending by the Town, zoning bylaws, and other articles on the warrant. This year’s warrant also has articles related to land acquisitions, improvements to the Town’s water and sewer systems, and other topics of interest to voters. The complete warrant is posted online at the Town’s website: https://www.town.westborough.ma.us/sites/westboroughma/files/news/2020_atm_warrant_posted.pdf

With its Open Town Meeting form of government, the Town Meeting is our legislature and every voter acts as a legislator. Voters are encouraged to attend these office hours to learn more about the Town Meeting process, how they can prepare to participate, and the topics that will be coming up for vote at the Town Meeting. Please ask your questions whether you’re new to Town Meeting or an experienced Town Meeting voter!

These office hours are not a substitute for the deliberations that happen at the Town Meeting. Instead, they are intended as an informal review and discussion of what the voters can expect to act upon at the Town Meeting and how every voter can participate.
