Shrewsbury town buildings closed to public; update on services

1522

Shrewsbury, – Town Manager Kevin Mizikar has released this press release regarding town building closings, as well as the status on town services.

In response to the Coronavirus, and in consideration of information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and the State of Emergency issued by Governor Baker, the Shrewsbury Town Hall, Senior Center and all other buildings with the exception of the Police and Fire Stations for emergency services will be closed to the public from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th, 2020. The status will be evaluated at a later date if further closing is necessary. The staff will be available during normal hours of operation (Town Hall and Senior Center 8:00am – 4:30pm and SELCO 7:30am – 4:30pm) Monday through Friday to answer phone calls or email questions from the public.   The closure of the Town Hall will impact those seeking services from all departments operating at the Town Hall including the School Department and SELCO.

Residents and other interested parties can pay bills, apply for permits and licenses and access other information and services at the Town Website www.shrewsburyma.gov.  Payments by check will still be accepted through the drop box located to the east of the main entrance of the Town Hall.   Cash is not accepted.  Department-specific operational changes will be posted to their respective webpage on Town website www.shrewsburyma.gov.

The closure of the Town Hall also means that SELCO customers will not be able to conduct their business at the customer service counter.  SELCO will be developing alternative means of servicing their customers.  Information relate to SELCO can be found on their website at www.selco.shrewsburyma.gov.  SELCO’s normal hours of operation are weekdays from 7:30am to 4:30pm.

Meals on Wheels and our transportation services will continue to operate through the Council on Aging at this time, but may be subject to change.  We are continuing to evaluate if we can provide a meal take out service to those who regularly come to the senior center to eat.  However, that will not be available Monday, March 16, 2020.  We apologize for the short notice.
