Marlborough –  More and more communities are coming up with creative ideas to make this stay- at-home time a little more palatable, especially for the children. The Marlborough Police Department has followed suit and is offering an opportunity for parents to schedule a drive-by to celebrate a child’s birthday. The Marlborough Police Facebook post announcing the program received 20 requests in the first two hours, according to Sergeant Zachary Attaway.

“We heard about the idea and decided to come up with a form so parents could request the drive-by. It’s just one way to try to bring a few smiles to kids,” he explained.

Parents wishing to schedule a drive-by are asked to visit the Marlborough Police website and fill out a form. (https://www.marlborough-ma.gov/marlborough-police-department/webforms/police-cruiser-birthday-drive-request)

The event will be scheduled, with the understanding that it is not guaranteed and is dependent on staffing and call volume, but every effort will be made to honor the request.
