Westborough – Due to coronavirus concerns and in consultation with the Westborough Board of Health, the Westborough Community Land Trust had to cancel participation by all groups and businesses this year for the annual Earth Day cleanup on April 18. But thanks to online sign-up and the many individuals and families who pulled together, the day turned out to be a big success.

“Even with no physical check-in and no celebratory picnic, it was easy to sense how connected and caring our community is by the number of people cleaning up and the piles of full bags by the road,” Janet Anderson WCLT member said. “With each person and family doing a little bit, and trusting others to do their share, we had a successful cleanup once again!

“A total of 135 people filled over 200 trash bags, and several people cleaned multiple routes! In the end we cleaned up nearly as much area as it usually takes twice as many people to clean. Amazing!” she added.
