Yadwyga Dauksas, 94, of NorthboroughNorthborough – Yadwyga Dauksas, 94, of Northboro, passed away on Tuesday, May 19th of complications from Covid-19.

Mrs. Dauksas was born, Jadvyga Sureviciene in Gruta Lithuania and grew up on a farm with her family. She was a strong woman who survived both occupations of her home country in the WW2 era. Post WW2 she married Teodoras Dauksas while in Lubeck Germany as war refugees. She made a courageous decision in 1951 and immigrated to the United States as a part of the Catholic War Relief with her two small daughters, Phyllis who predeceased her in 1995, and Ruta. She had to leave the love of her life behind as he was ill with Tuberculosis. He predeceased her in 1957.

She lived on Long Island and worked in a Dry Cleaners raising her children. Yadwyga loved the beaches, gardening and knitting. Everyone in the family had a blanket that Grandma had made.

She moved to Shrewsbury Massachusetts in 1995 and loved her time at the Shrewsbury Towers. She had many friends there and enjoyed playing cards and bingo with them all. Yadwyga was a devoted Catholic and attended St. Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury for as long as she could.

Beaumont in Northboro became her final home as Alzheimer’s prevented her from independent living. She was active in all the games and activities.

She is survived by her Daughter Ruta of Shrewsbury, Ma. Three Granddaughters Phyllis Joan and Tammie on Long Island and Heather in Shrewsbury and Three Grandsons Troy in Philadelphia, Theodore in Waltham and Michael of Worcester.

Private family service is being held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in her name to Alzheimer’s research in hopes of finding a cure.
