To the Editor:
I am writing to respectfully ask Shrewsbury voters to join me in making certain Moe DePalo is re-elected to the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen in the upcoming June 16th local election. This has been a challenging year for all of us. The impact COVID – 19 has had on our daily lives has been tragic and disruptive beyond words and has created an incredible uncertainty in most things we do. Locally, there is an anxiety about things we once took for granted. Will Shrewsbury need to significantly cut back on vital services that have been the hallmark of our community? I don’t know the answers to our concerns, but I do know that the June 16th town election will be the most important one we will ever vote in and I’ll feel much better knowing Moe DePalo will be returning to the Board of Selectman to confront these challenges for all of us.
On a personal note, I have known Moe for more than 40 years. I have seen his commitment to our community, the integrity he brings to every issue he confronts, and the passion he brings to continually improve our town. Logically all those attributes combined with his nearly three decades of experience should easily ensure Moe’s re-election. But let me be blunt. The best candidates don’t automatically get elected. With Shrewsbury’s election being pushed back to June 16th, the legitimate concern folks may have about going to a polling place to vote, and the unfortunate low voter turnout we see in local elections, I am asking every Shrewsbury voter to get actively involved in Moe’s reelection campaign. Here’s the deal: talk to your family and friends. Tell them how important it is to return Moe DePalo to the Shrewsbury Board of Selectmen. If you invest a little time over the next few days reaching out to your neighbors and friends, Moe will give you three more years of the excellent public service our town expects and deserves.
