Marlborough – The Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) recently announced the 2020 recipients of its Community Foundation scholarship awards. This year’s recipients of the $1,000 scholarships are Sophia Carlone, Marlborough High School; Samantha Gogen, Hudson High School; Livia Costa, Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School; and Dustin Burkhart, Advanced Math & Science Charter School.
The MRCC is proud to recognize these outstanding young students for their academic achievement, extracurricular involvement and community engagement.
The MRCC Scholarship Committee is made up of a small group of volunteers who each spent over 30 hours reviewing the submitted applications.
Darren McLaughlin, chair of the MRCC Scholarship Committee, stated, “All the students who applied had excellent credentials and each year it proves to be a very challenging and rewarding process determining the winners.”
Rob Schlacter, president/CEO of the MRCC, added, “This recognition could not come at a better time during a very difficult and challenging school year due to the pandemic. These students stood out among the many solid applicants and we are proud to have them represent the city of Marlborough in their future endeavors.”
The Marlborough Regional Community Foundation, Inc. was established by the MRCC’s Board of Directors in 1998. The foundation is a community resource for business and civic organizations in the areas of fundraising, education, and business and economic development.
