These are strange times indeed. Beyond the challenges of the pandemic, it seems that societal divides are deeper than ever. Often, today’s political and racial issues are escalated by a general lack of civility and understanding. In this age of social media, where everyone with a keyboard can push an agenda, it seems all the more important that we strive to understand before we respond and that we put empathy before aggression. It is not possible to arrive at middle ground without first understanding another person’s frame of reference.
