Hudson – Jose Lordelo Tavares, 82, of Hudson, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Marlborough Hospital. He leaves behind his beloved wife Maria Fatima (Braga) Tavares.
Jose was born in Santa Maria Azores Portugal on October 8, 1937, a son of the late Jose Tavares and Maria Monteiro Lordelo. He was raised in Santa Maria and immigrated to Hudson, MA in 1963. A longtime resident, Jose was a member of the Hudson Portuguese Club, Saint Michael Parish, and the Holy Ghost Society.
Jose was a skilled carpenter and worked for many years for RF Wood Construction and Framingham State College before eventually retiring. Carpentry was more than a job for Jose, it was also his passion and he was exceptionally talented. Jose also loved animals, especially his granddog, “Bane”.
In addition to his beloved wife, Maria Fatima (Braga) Tavares, Jose is also survived by his daughters, Gina B. Tavares of Hudson, Lucia Scola and her husband Dr. Christopher Scola of Glastonbury, CT and Margaret Curley and her husband Eugene of Berlin; a sister, Maria Rosa Leandres and her husband Antonio of CT; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Curley, Peyton Cometa and her husband Anthony, Jade Curley, Christopher Scola, Jr. and Michael Scola and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Antonio Tavares, Ines Rego and Maria Loura.
A period of calling hours will be held from 4 pm until 7 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 am on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Saint Michael Parish, 21 Manning St., Hudson, MA; followed by a procession to Saint Michael Cemetery for interment.
