Shrewsbury council on aging resumes limited van transportation service

Shrewsbury – Hollie Lucht, director of the council on aging, recently announced that as of June 15 van transportation services for Shrewsbury seniors and those with disabilities have resumed – but on a limited basis.

“We’ve been closed since March,” explained Office Support Coordinator Donna Messier. “People are anxious to get back to getting to their doctor appointments and just getting back to getting things that they really need.”

ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) riders are now being accepted for essential purposes such as medical, dialysis, work and grocery/pharmacy trips.

Service runs Monday to Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Due to COVID-19, and in an effort to keep staff and others safe, masks are mandatory and the service is for one person at a time unless a PCA (personal care attendant) is required.

For more information and to schedule a trip, contact Cynthia Willis, transportation coordinator, at 508-523-1307.
