Shrewsbury – The Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library recently announced their 2020 scholarship recipient, Zoie Leo, who will receive $1,500.00.

Leo is a 2020 graduate of Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). She will be attending Olin College of Engineering in Needham this fall.

“I think it is super awesome that I won’t have to worry about expenses for books next year,” Leo said.

While her focus in college will be on engineering, she is also really looking forward to expanding her horizons by taking a variety of literature courses.

Students applying for the scholarship were asked to write an essay on their favorite book. Leo’s essay was titled “A Guiding Light” written about the book “A Light in the Attic” by Shel Silverstein.

Leo is the daughter of Janet and Robert Leo of Shrewsbury.

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of the library and special events.
