Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation recently announced it will be holding a Town Clean Up Day in conjunction with the Great Massachusetts Clean Up Event on Saturday, Oct. 3, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Usually held in April; the annual event where volunteers gather to pick up litter, take part in park maintenance projects, plant trees and other community service activities in communities across the commonwealth was postponed due to COVID-19.
According to the town website, residents are urged to “Gather your group, club, church, neighbors, or family and help spruce up and beautify the town. You’ll pick a location and collect trash and debris and place it in a designated town clean up bag. DPW staff will collect the trash after 12 p.m. at a predetermined location.”
Supplies can be picked up at Town Hall, 100 Maple Ave. from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 3. Participants are asked to please wear a mask when picking up supplies.
“Your group meets at your locations at a time convenient to you between 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday. People should work in groups of 12 or less,” the announcement continued.
T-shirts will be available while supplies last that morning and interested parties are asked to sign up on Sign Up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e45a8a72da2ff2-annual.
