Sunday hours at the Shrewsbury Public Library begin Oct. 4
Shrewsbury Public Library

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Public Library announced the start of Sunday hours, beginning Oct. 4. Library services will be available on Sundays from 1-5 p.m.

The west entrance of the library will be open and requested items will be on tables in the hallway. Patrons can place holds on books, audiobooks, CDs, video games, or DVDs through the C/W MARS system. Items that belong to Shrewsbury or other libraries can be selected. Up to 10 holds can be placed on one library card. Holds will be arranged in alphabetical order by patrons’ last names, and can be checked out using the self-checkout machines. Patrons will then follow directional signs to exit the building from the main north entrance. Borrowed items can be returned in black bins outside the library from 1-4:30 p.m.

Reservation-based computer sessions are available to patrons with a C/W MARS library card in good standing. In order to use a computer, library card holders must call the library (508-841-8609, ext. 3) to reserve a time slot. Reservations are limited to one 60-minute session per day, no exceptions. Due to safety precautions, users are required to come alone, and library staff will only be able to provide limited, remote support. Patrons are requested to come through the west entrance.

There are also selections of new materials to browse and check out.

The Board of Library trustees is grateful to the following donors who have sponsored the Sunday hours: Dr. B. Dale and Mrs. Melanie Magee; Olive I. and Anthony A. Borgatti Jr. Donor-Advised Fund of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation (four Sundays each); and Dean Park Grill and Pizza (two Sundays). Providing one Sunday each are Maureen Fujimori in honor of Eileen Mooney Evans; Pam Osborn in memory of Harry Der Harootunian; in memory of James A. Heedles; in loving memory of Buckie Somers; in memory of Marsha Williams; the Bachini Family in memory of Ruth Seward; John P. Collins and Nancy Hughes in memory of Dr. John P. Collins; Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center; Southgate at Shrewsbury; Shrewsbury Rotary Club; Shrewsbury Garden Club; Selectman Beth Casavant; the Del Dotto grandchildren – Drea, Dylan and Devin; Olivia, Peg and Don Harbert; and one anonymous donor.
