Richard F. SmithHudson – Richard “Rick” F. Smith, 68, of Hudson, MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, on Saturday, October 3, 2020. He leaves his beautiful wife of 44 years, Audrey (Carter) Smith.

Rick was born in Hudson, MA, on September 11, 1952, a son of Kathleen (Anastas) Markou and her husband Michael Markou, and the late Frank A. Smith. He was raised in Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School. After graduating, he attended 2 years of college before starting a 50 year career at Lamson Lumber, now known as Koopman Lumber. He went on to purchase his dream home in Berlin, MA where he spent his afternoons lounging by the pool with his family and playing golf with his sons in the backyard.

Rick was a Hudson hall of fame athlete, playing hockey, football, and baseball. As his children grew, his love for playing sports changed to watching them. Rick was happiest surrounded by his kids and grandkids, and always looked forward to their family trips to Disney World. Rick was also a legend in the kitchen known for cooking the best fried clams, fish and chips, and “Jordan Wings” at the Bar Lunch, Sully’s and Finnegans.

In addition to his wife and mother, Rick’s memory lives on with his three children, Adrienne Constantine and her husband Rich, Brett Smith and his wife Colleen, Cody Smith and Nicole Goebel; his brother Robert Smith and his wife Patsy; 5 grandchildren, Avery, Reilly, Calley Constantine, Oliver and Harrison Smith; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Rick’s life from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at TIGHE HAMILTON REGIONAL FUNERAL HOME, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA. A graveside committal service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 9, 2020, at Forestvale Cemetery in Hudson open to all.
