Shrewsbury Garden Club honors essential workers with this year’s crop of scarecrowsShrewsbury – It’s that time of the year when the Town Common is adorned with festive scarecrows to mark the fall season. The tradition began 16 years ago in concert with the Spirit of Shrewsbury.

Although organizers of the Spirit of Shrewsbury postponed their fall festival until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Shrewsbury Garden Club went ahead with their annual event having been given the green light from the Board of Health department. This year’s theme is certainly timely: “Honoring Essential Workers.”

The display will remain until Monday, Oct. 26.
