Shrewsbury – The town of Shrewsbury recently received a MassDOT Shared Streets and Spaces grant totaling $63,514.87 that will be used to promote public health and enhanced safe mobility.

The funds will help provide new or repurposed space for socially-distanced walking, bicycling, dining, retail, and bus travel. Two bike racks will be installed at Town Hall and the Senior Center.

The grant will include funding for two new ADA compliant crosswalks on Maple Avenue proximate to the Town Center and the Town Hall Campus (Senior Center, Police Station and Town Hall) as well as municipal playing fields.  And flashing beacons at one or both of the proposed crosswalks will also be installed as an added safety measure.
