Algonquin field hockey tops Shrewsbury in double OT

Shrewsbury – The Algonquin Regional High School field hockey team defeated Shrewsbury 1-0 in a thrilling Pod 8 finals playoff game that went to double overtime Nov. 14.  The game was played under the lights at Shrewsbury High School.

After battling it out throughout regulation plan the first overtime period, all-time Algonquin point leader Day Ruffo’s shot finally found the net in the second overtime to give Algonquin the 1-0 win over Shrewsbury.  Senior captain Kerryn O’Connell had the assist on the play.
