Northborough – The Northborough Community Affairs Committee is pleased to announce a new event for this upcoming holiday season – the 1st Annual Light Up the Town community decorating contest. Residents of Northborough can sign-up to compete for the most festive display in town and members of the community will be able to vote online for their favorite three houses.
The Committee came up with this idea because it cannot hold the Annual Tree Lighting event downtown due to the current situation and regulations. “The recent Jack-O-Lantern Stroll was such a huge hit for our community that we felt we should come up with a fun, socially distant event for the holiday season as well,” said Lisa Hodge, chair of the Northborough Community Affairs Committee.
In order to take part in the decorating contest, community members must register on the Committee’s website by Monday, Nov. 30. A list of addresses will then be made available on the website and Facebook page. On the weekends of Dec. 4-6 and Dec. 11 -13 from 5-8 p.m., the competing houses will be lit for all to drive around, enjoy and then vote. Voting will begin on Dec. 4 and end on Dec. 14. Each of the three winners will receive a prize from a local business.
