Cornerstone Bank donates to WCAC to assist local residents with heating costs

Region – Cornerstone Bank has announced a donation of $40,000 to Worcester Community Action Council, Inc to assist local residents with home heating costs. The donation will support the agency’s Emergency Fuel Assistance Fund. Every year, this fund provides critical support to clients who are most vulnerable to high home heating costs and whose needs often extend beyond what they receive in federal assistance.

In announcing the donation, Cornerstone Bank President Todd Tallman said, “At Cornerstone Bank, we are honored to help make a difference in the community we serve and are very proud to be able to support the Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC).”

WCAC Executive Director Marybeth Campbell said, “Cornerstone has been a critical partner to WCAC for many years. This year’s donation comes at a moment in time when we have more people experiencing greater need. We are, once again, grateful for Cornerstone’s support and for these resources that will go directly to households that need it most.”

The Low Income Home Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is open November 1 to April 30 each year, providing financial assistance by paying fuel vendors directly for income-eligible households including individuals, families, single or multi-family homes, owners or renters. Eligibility is determined by household income. Additional details about eligibility and how to apply is available online at www.wcac.net/fuel-assistance/.
