Doris ForchielliShrewsbury – Doris (Orciani) Forchielli, 97, of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully Dec. 2, 2020 at Beaumont Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Northbridge. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, the late Quido Forchielli, in 1976.

Doris was born in Somerville but spent her formative years in Needham. She was one of two children born to the late Joseph and Mary (Cardinali) Orciani, both from Pesaro, Italy.

She and her husband Quido operated Forchielli Music Studio in Worcester for many years, where Doris taught accordion. Later in life, she worked for the Paul Revere Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1983.

Her love of music was the core of her being, and sustained her throughout her lifetime. Doris was an accomplished singer and accordionist, performing at many venues over the years. She was a very fine soprano who could bring listeners to tears with her rendition of Ave Maria.

Doris belonged to the Worcester Chorus, Assabet Valley Mastersingers, Trinity Big Band in Worcester, and the Central MA Accordion Club. She was a member of St. Mary Church, Shrewsbury, and sang in their Choir for almost 60 years.

Above all, Doris cherished time spent visiting with family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. They in turn, would delight every time she sang and played her accordion for them.

Doris is survived by her son, Kenneth Forchielli and his wife Carol of Shrewsbury, and daughter, Linda Sauer and her husband Thomas of Bethlehem, Pa.; grandchildren, Melissa DeMars and her husband Edward of Westborough, Marc Forchielli and his wife Jill of Holliston, Scott Sauer and his wife Kim of Nazareth, Pa., and Kristen Delaney and her husband Jeff of Upper Pottsgrove, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Reese DeMars, Mia, Nicholas, and Zachary Forchielli, Jacoby, Logan, and Avery Sauer, and Ashley and Brynn Delaney; and sister-in-law, Elves Orciani of Millis; as well as many loving family members and friends. Along with her husband and her parents, Doris was predeceased by her brother, Elmo “Al” Orciani,

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Joy of Music Program, 1 Gorham St., Worcester, MA 01605. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, services will be held privately at a later date.
