Holiday Happenings in MarlboroughMarlborough – Due to the pandemic, Marlborough’s downtown tree lighting and festivities will not be taking place this year. However, the city is hosting several COVID-safe “Holiday Happenings.”

The Fire Department will be chauffeuring Santa Claus around the city this season. The Santa Run will take place on the evenings of Saturday, Dec.19 and Sunday, Dec. 20 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Santa Claus can be tracked on the “Glympse” app. Glympse is a free location sharing application that will share Santa’s real-time location and estimated arrival time using GPS tracking. Information along with a link will be made available on the Marlborough Fire Department’s Facebook page

The city is holding its annual Holiday Lights Contest and residents can nominate a friend or family member by Tuesday, Dec.15. Nominations can be sent to the Mayor’s office via email at: [email protected]. Please include a photo of the light display along with the name of the owner/resident, their address, email, phone number, and the nominator’s name. A winner will be selected on Wednesday, Dec 23 and awarded a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant of their choice.

“It’s unfortunate that we can’t hold our annual tree lighting and winter concert, so we are offering families a “glimpse” of Santa and a little holiday cheer, said Mayor Arthur Vigeant.”
