Shrewsbury – Applications are now available for the Town of Shrewsbury 2021 scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to deserving high school seniors who are residents of Shrewsbury. Awards are based on financial need, character, community service and academic achievement. The Scholarship Fund was instituted by Town Meeting vote in May 1995. In 2020, twenty-five $500 scholarships were awarded to students who were furthering their education at accredited institutions of higher learning.
Students interested in applying for a scholarship may obtain applications at the Shrewsbury High School Guidance Office or other high school guidance offices in the surrounding area as well as the Selectmen’s Office. Completed applications must be received in the Selectmen’s office no later than 4 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021. Information is included on the application.
Since the inception of the Scholarship Fund, many Shrewsbury residents have generously supported this worthwhile effort. Contributions can be made along with excise and property tax payments. Direct donations are also accepted at the Treasurer’s Office at any time or on at the town website.
