Shrewsbury – Santa couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day Dec. 19 to spread holiday cheer on Lake Quinsigamond.  With barely a cloud in the sky and virtually no wind he enjoyed perfect jet skiing conditions. That’s right – jet ski!

The Lake Quinsigamond Watershed Association organized the 2020 Lake Quinsigamond’s Santa Wet Run with Santa making a loop around the lake on a jet ski.

Various groups gathered at points around the lake on both the Shrewsbury and Worcester sides. About a dozen well-wishers came to the Corazzini Boat Ramp where Santa’s “run” began and concluded. It took about two hours for Santa to make a full loop around the lake.

Santa was thrilled to have been asked and shared before he boarded his jet ski, “Given everything that is going on this year anything we can do to raise the spirits of the community is definitely something that we are happy to do.”

“He [Santa] is going to give the sleigh and the reindeer a rest so he’s going to run around the lake and say to everybody, say ‘Ho, Ho, Ho,’ and then come back. It should be fun,” added Peter Collins, Lake Quinsigamond Commission chair.

The Shrewsbury Fire Department and their hovercraft was on hand to provide extra support for Santa’s safety.

“We are hoping that we can get Santa to come every year if he’s not too busy,” Collins remarked. “Next year we hope to help Toys for Tots.”

“Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas,” were Santa’s parting words as he embarked on his “run.”
