A proud child of Irish immigrant parents, Timothy (known to many as Frank or Franny) and his sister, Virginia, enjoyed a childhood filled with family and traditions. Timothy joined the Navy in 1961 and served proudly for 30 years, traveling to many memorable places. He met his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Cooney) Keane, marrying on Oct. 30, 1965 and enjoying over 50 years of marriage together. Timothy graduated from Northeastern University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Timothy and Betty raised their two children, Michael F. and Timothy J., in Shrewsbury, and had a wonderful group of friends who enjoyed many adventures together. Timothy began his State career as a Quality Control Specialist at the Department of Transitional Assistance in 1969 and cherished the many friendships he made there.

Upon his retirement in 2003 after 34 years, Timothy and Elizabeth relocated to western Massachusetts to be closer to their sons and treasured grandchildren, Katherine, Seamus, Abigail, and Cooper Keane, whose company they adored at every opportunity. Timothy also remained in touch with his lifelong best friend, Anthony “Tony” Ciaccio, and many relatives and extended family members. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Joseph Hurley, sisters-in-law Joan Brenner and Susan Cooney, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Betty, Timothy was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Virginia Hurley.

The family would like to thank the Jewish Community Center’s staff and trainers where Tim enjoyed a workout, conversation, and lunch with friends after a van ride with Herb. They would also like to thank The Jewish Geriatric Center who took care of Betty and also welcomed Tim’s daily visits to volunteer well beyond Betty’s passing, which brightened his days. The family is also thankful for Trinity Hospice caregivers whom, along with his devoted daughter-in-law, Jennifer, allowed Timothy to remain comfortable and at home.
