Northborough – The Northborough Area Community Chorus has traditionally prepared two concerts each year for almost 50 years.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in-person rehearsals ceased and the 2020 Spring concert “Better Together” was cancelled.

With determination and the hard work of director Elinor A. Armsby, chorus member Kathy Horelik, the chorus board and chorus members, the NACC put together a virtual presentation.

Practice for this presentation consisted of masked and socially distant singing at outdoor venues in the fall, as well as multiple virtual Zoom rehearsals online.

The finished product “Stronger Together” may be viewed on the following Cable stations: Northborough, Marlborough and Southborough and on the NACC Facebook page as well as on YouTube at https://youtu.be/bFfhTONderI.

Chorus members recently entertained the public with Christmas carols at the 291 West Main Plaza in Northborough and look forward to performing at an outdoor venue for Northborough Senior Housing.

With the cancellation of two concerts, due to the pandemic, the chorus is currently operating with a deficit. In preparation for the eagerly awaited Golden Anniversary Celebration, NACC is looking for community help to cover expenses and keep this group active. Donations are appreciated and may be sent to: NACC, c/o Cindi Rose, Treasurer, P.O. Box 442, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

The NACC is partially supported by grants from the Northborough, Marlborough, and Southborough cultural councils, all local agencies that are supported in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

The chorus welcomes new members and auditions are not required. For more information call 774-249-2497, www.nacc.net or https://www.facebook.com/northboroughareacommunitychorus/
