Georgina G. CamilloMarlborough – Georgina Grace (Assenza) Camillo, 96, of Marlborough, formerly of North Port, Fla., passed away Jan. 17, 2021 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Augustine N. Camillo, mother of the late Eileen Cochran and sister of the late Anthony Assenza.

Georgina is survived by two children, Georgina G. Chamberlain and husband Paul of Marlborough and Robert V. Camillo and wife Carola of Stratford, Conn. She also leaves six grandchildren, Alyssa, Lauren and Julia Chamberlain of Marlborough, Nicholas Camillo of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sydni (Camillo) and her husband Alex Marmor of Madison, Conn., and Jamie Cochran of Newcastle, Del.

Georgina was born June 30, 1924 in Bridgeport, Conn., the daughter of the late George and Mary Assenza, both originally from Sicily.

She was a 1942 graduate of Harding High School in Bridgeport, Conn. and chaired the class Reunion Committee for many years. She married “Gus” when he returned from his service in the Navy in WWII. They started their family in Stratford, Conn. and later retired in North Port, Fla.  In 2018, Georgina moved to Marlborough to be closer to her daughter and family.

Known as Georgie to friends and Nani to her family she enjoyed cooking and hosted many family gatherings throughout the years. She loved playing bocce, Bingo and cards with friends.  Georgie owned her own ceramic studio for years, was an avid painter and was very proud of the three blue ribbons she recently won. She loved playing the organ and was known for singing karaoke at pasta nights at the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge in Florida.

Funeral services will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
