Shrewsbury girls basketball holds on to defeat Algonquin

Northborough – The visiting Shrewsbury Colonials girls’ basketball team defeated Algonquin Regional 46-42 in a game played Jan. 29.

The score was close the entire game, with Shrewsbury ahead with a 1 point lead at halftime.  Algonquin fought back to take the lead briefly late in the second half, but Shrewsbury regained control in the closing minutes to earn the win.

With the win, Shrewsbury improved to 2-1 on the season while Algonquin fell to 0-3.

Following current COVID-19 protocols, the game was played in an empty gym without any fans present.
