Marlborough – The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission voted to award Accreditation status to the Marlborough Police Department for another three-year period ending in January 2024. The Department first earned Accreditation in 2018 after meeting 257 mandatory standards as well as 85 optional standards.
The Accreditation process consists of two major components: 1) The establishment of a body of professional standards and policies and 2) a voluntary assessment process by which agencies can be publicly recognized for meeting those standards considered best practices for the profession.
According to the Commission’s recent letter to Chief David Giorgi, “Re-Accreditation demonstrates your Department’s ongoing commitment to delivering an exemplary level ofpolice service to your community.”
Achieving and maintaining Accreditation from the Commission requires investment and participation by the entire police department. In a press release from Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s office, Giorgi recognized the efforts of Lt. Robert Jusseaume, Lt. Daniel Campbell and Sgt. Zachary Attaway who are the leaders of the department’s Accreditation team.
“Being recognized as an Accredited police department in Massachusetts is a prestigious achievement and makes the Marlborough Police department one of only 94 fully Accredited departments in the state, This accomplishment is something of which all members of the Police Department and the City of Marlborough can be proud,” Giorgi said.
“With the pressures and concerns in today’s society, it’s important for our residents to have faith and confidence in their police department,” Vigeant added.
