George A. MarquisWorcester – It is with heart-felt sorrow, that I announce the passing of my brother, George A. Marquis, 65, of Worcester, formerly of Shrewsbury, who passed away Feb. 8, 2021 after a long period of declining health.

George was born April 8, 1955, one of two sons of George R. and Lorraine G. (Caron) Marquis.  Raised in raised in Shrewsbury, he graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, class of 1975, and began his employed career, working for several companies, including Coppus Engineering, Worcester Academy, and then Southgate in Shrewsbury, to name a few, before retiring. George lived many years in Shrewsbury.

George is survived by his brother and best friend, Paul C. Marquis and his wife Kathleen of Shrewsbury, many cousins, and extended family members here and in Canada.

George was a member of St Anne’s Church. He always had a passion for fixing old watches and obtaining new ones. George loved tinkering and rides on his motorcycles, especially with his brother by his side on his. He also enjoyed reading about cars and motorcycles and loved socializing with friends. George had a huge heart, bright smile, and great sense of humor.

Out and abundance of caution and concern for people’s safety, funeral services will be held privately. George will be buried in the family cemetery in Plessisville, Quebec, Canada. A memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday, Feb. 18, at 9 a.m., in St Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury.

Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue league, 139 Holden St., Worcester.
