Westborough – NASCAR fans had a local connection to the Daytona 500 on Feb. 14 as Westborough’s Kaz Grala made his second appearance in the race.

The 22-year-old rookie held the lead for 10 laps but ultimately had to leave the race after being caught up in a wreck that caused a rotor on his rear right wheel of his No. 16 Chevrolet to catch fire. After his crew extinguished the flames, his car caught fire again, forcing him to pull out the race for good.

Although not the finish he wanted, Grala – and his fans – are looking forward to more exciting future adventures on the track.
