Shrewsbury – A small group of activists representing Emergency Everywhere Shrewsbury participated in a “standout” in the town center Feb. 26 to bring awareness to what they call a “Climate Emergency.” The group is part of a larger organization, Extinction Rebellion Massachusetts.
According to one member, Diane Jones, the group hopes to get enough signatures for a petition that would urge the town to declare a climate emergency. If approved, that petition would then appear on the warrant for a future Town Meeting.
The group is holding a kick-off via Zoom, Thursday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m. Shrewsbury resident Martha Gach, Ph.D., who is the regional education manager and conservation coordinator at Mass Audubon’s Broad Meadow Brook Wildlife Sanctuary and Conservation Center in Worcester, will be their guest speaker. Standouts are scheduled to take place every other Friday from 3:30 – 5 p.m. The next one will take place Friday, March 12.
